After graduation, I moved home for a couple weeks. I took the Aussies on a couple trips to Baltimore and DC, then they left to continue their cross-America roadtrip. This left me finally free to leave the nest and venture forth into ‘the real world’.
What did I do first? I went to San Francisco.
In April, I had won a writing contest at Trazzler.com with my neighborhood piece on the French Concession in Shanghai. The prize included two flights to San Francisco, and four nights at a nice hotel downtown. I decided to take my Mom and sister (I know, aw) and we left for a week-long trip.
We hit all the highlights: Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Golden Gate, etc. We even took a day trip to Monterey and Carmel. Having lived on the East Coast my entire life, San Francisco felt like another country; a laid-back, super techie, burrito-loving country.
I’ll separate the highlights of the trip into different posts. But first, some more pictures of downtown San Francisco:
