On Monday (July 23), this site is moving. It will still be ExpatEdna.com, but will no longer be on wordpress.com. I’m finally moving to self-hosting!
What does this mean for you? Well, to quote the lazy travelers when they transfered (because I wasn’t even aware this would happen if it weren’t for them):
- Be patient if things look wacky.
- If you are following me in WordPress, your subscription will not transfer. E-mail followers, you’re safe, but WordPress friends, you’re not! Once the migration is finished, I’ll let you know* and please oh please, re-subscribe!
I am SO excited to reveal this huge site redesign that has been in the works for months. A big shout-out to Chris Richardson of RTW Labs for helping me move the site over and set up the new look; also to my good friend David Ortiz for helping with the design aspects, including my first ever proper site logo. I would highly recommend both of them to anyone looking to make their site super snazzy.
So on Monday, pop on over to the site, RE-SUBSCRIBE if you would like to be notified of new posts, and check out Expat Edna’s awesome new look.
Thanks to all of the readers who have followed me so far — it’s because of your amazing support that I needed to upgrade the site!

I'm an American writer living in Paris and serial expat addicted to living abroad. I believe in traveling while you're young – and that it's possible to balance long-term travel, a career, and a relationship at the same time. I first moved abroad at 18 and have been permanently overseas since graduating in 2010. I've built a career in media and journalism through living in China, Singapore, and Paris, and have covered sports events from London to Azerbaijan. I currently travel solo while engaged to someone 6,000 miles away.

Congrats – So Excited for You – Good Luck!!! Enjoy Your Weekend:)
Yay congrats on the transfer!!
which reminds me, I need to transfer hosts soon..
Edna, you can actually transfer your subscribers to your new site. Here’s what you need to do: install the Jetpack plugin on your new site. Then go to the WordPress.com forums (http://en.forums.wordpress.com/) and post a thread asking to have your subscriptions transferred – you’ll need to provide your WordPress.com username and new site URL. They will take care of it right away and you won’t lose those readers! It worked perfectly for me.
Congratulations! I have been wanting to revamp my blog to and make it all mine, but alas, have been short on time and guts.
So I really applaud you! Can’t wait for the relaunch. Very exciting!
Self-hosting is the way to go! Congrats!
Congratulations!! I look forward to the reveal :)
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see the new site :-)
